Team Building
Within everything we do, everyday, we are involved with teamwork...
unless we sit alone.
Team Interaction is Everywhere
Whether interacting with your local shopping store staff or working on a production line in a factory, almost all of our daily routines bring us into contact with other people.
- How do you feel working with people you don’t know?
- Why is it important to know how to interact with other people?
- What can I do to get to know my fellow co-workers?
Teamwork Definition
“Teamwork is a joint action by two or more people, in which each person contributes with different skills and expresses his or her individual interests and opinions to the unity and efficiency of the group in order to achieve common goals. This does not mean that the individual is no longer important; however, it does mean that effective and efficient teamwork goes beyond individual accomplishments.” Chaudron, David (2007) "Teams and Teamwork". Journal of Organized Change.
Managements Role
As a responsible manager, part of your role is to make sure your staff work well together. This means they are happy, they know each other, they can work well together and they have a similar goal of creating a successful work environment.
”Businesses and other organizations often go to the effort of coordinating team building events in an attempt to get people to work as a team rather than as individuals. If teamwork is supported with good coordination and organization, the team is bound to succeed in whatever task it is given to do.” Chaudron, David (2007) "Teams and Teamwork". Journal of Organized Change.
